Key Focus Areas

Key focus areas include estimating the number of 4 years olds that would attend preschool (Supply & Demand), increasing the number of educated and trained staff over the next 5-10 years (Workforce Development), and calculating the costs of both upgrading facilities to accommodate preschool space and creating new preschool space by community (Facilities Inventory). Task forces, one corresponding to each of these focus areas, have been created to work on each area. The objectives of each task force as well as contact information is provided below.

Key Focus Area: Supply & Demand Assessment

Objective: Determine number of children by age 0-5 and region, as well as the number of children enrolled in public and private school. Determine enrollment of four year olds  in licensed preschool facilities, state preschools and Head Start programs, compare population with the number of children enrolled, and determine the Academic Performance Scores Listed By School District.

Key Focus Area: Facilities Inventory

Objective: Inventory existing facilities, calculate the direct costs of both upgrading an existing preschool space and creating a new preschool space by community.

Objective: Analyze the current workforce, identify current workforce development efforts, challenges to the development of the workforce, potential partnerships with higher education and other ECE advocates, and develop Workforce Development Recommendations, Goals and Workplan.
