Comprehensive Approaches to Raising Educational Standards - CARES

Mendocino County CARES is an incentive program, funded by FIRST 5 Mendocino and the California Department of Education funded AB212 program, that honors child care and preschool providers by offering stipends ranging from $150 to $500. The intent of CARES is to support early care and education providers in obtaining training and education to enhance their professional development. The goal of the program is to increase quality child care and to retain child care providers in the field of Early Care and Education.

Mendocino County CARES is built around five tracks:

  • Family, Friend and Neighbor (FFN) Track;
  • Entry Level Track;
  • Permit Track;
  • Degree Track; and
  • Professional Track.

Mendocino County CARES offers incentives for license-exempt providers, Family Child Care providers, and Center-based providers. If you are a child care provider, you may be eligible!
