MCOE SEEKS EVENT JUDGES AND OTHER VOLUNTEERS
UKIAH, CA – The Mendocino County Office of Education (MCOE) invites students to begin preparing for the 33rd annual Mendocino County Science Fair to be held Saturday, March 30 at the Mendocino College Gymnasium in Ukiah. Students in grades 3-12 who receive top scores for their science projects at school and district science fairs around the county are invited to compete.
All school and district fairs must be completed by February 28 and student project registration for the county fair is due March 8. MCOE encourages those interested in participating to visit http://mcoeus.wpengine.com/District/portal/Science-Fair, where MCOE offers updated forms and student handbooks and a step-by-step guide for science fair coordinators, including forms, rules, submission specifications, judging criteria, and more.
MCOE Manager of Educational Services and Student Events, Kimberly Barden, said, “To make this event a success, we depend on community judges and volunteers. Anyone interested in participating should sign up online. Volunteers can complete the online volunteer form at https://goo.gl/zYfSt4 and judges can complete the online judging form at https://goo.gl/eicB7C.”
Students can submit science fair projects as part of a class project, as a team with two or three members, or as individuals and projects can cover any number of topics from life sciences to physical sciences to earth, space and engineering. Science fair judges then review each project against standard criteria and interview participants about their projects.
