Rooted & Ready: Healing Secondary Trauma and Reclaiming Joy
MCOE and Quality Counts Mendocino are partnering with First 5 Mendocino to host a two-day Wellness Summit, "Rooted and Ready: Healing Secondary Trauma and Reclaiming Joy," on October 3-4, 2025, at the Hopland Research and Extension Center. Each day offers different content, so participants may attend one or both days.
The summit addresses the impact of secondary trauma and provides practical tools to support personal wellness and professional resilience. Sessions will explore the neurobiology of stress and burnout, introduce easy-to-use emotional regulation techniques, offer nervous system strategies to share with others, and include small-group problem-solving.
Presenters include Dr. MC McDonald and Jules Fetherston on October 3, and Julie Kurtz on October 4. An optional Natural Mindfulness Walk will begin at 8:30 a.m. each morning, with sessions running from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Comfortable, casual attire is encouraged.
NOTE: This training event is funded in partnership with Chabot -Las Positas Community College District and Mendocino County Social Services Agency, with grant funding that is specifically allocated to training professionals and caregivers in Mendocino County who work with foster youth or those at risk of entry, including social workers, therapists, counselors, educators, pediatricians, etc.
