School Attendance Review Board (SARB)

Regular school attendance is the foundation for student success.

MCOE supports student success by addressing barriers to regular school attendance through the School Attendance Review Board (SARB). SARB brings together educators, community agencies, and families to develop solutions that help students attend school consistently and stay engaged in learning.

Regular school attendance is one of the strongest predictors of academic achievement and future success. Through SARB, we ensure that every student has the opportunity to thrive by reducing attendance barriers, strengthening family and school partnerships, and fostering a positive, restorative approach to problem-solving.

Restorative Approach

Our SARB process focuses on repairing relationships, building trust, and creating pathways for students to reconnect with their school community rather than using punitive measures.

Collaborative Solutions

SARB works collaboratively with families to identify underlying causes of chronic absenteeism and develop individualized plans tailored to each student's unique needs.

Comprehensive Support

We connect families with counseling, health services, academic support, and community resources to address barriers and promote consistent school attendance.
