Coat Drive a Success Thanks to Staff and Community Partner Generosity

We all know what it feels like to be cold; Yet many of us only experience it in short spurts, like walking from our cars into work, or rushing into the coffee shop in January. Now, imagine the last time you had to walk somewhere without a coat, wait in the rain for a bus, or sleep in a campground without something to keep you warm. Unfortunately, this is a common occurrence for our homeless students throughout Mendocino County.

MCOE's Foster and Homeless Youth Services Program provided a record number of 259 students with jackets this fall. We want to share our deep gratitude for staff and community partner generosity during the holiday season. Numerous MCOE staff, community members, and especially the Med/Surg and ER departments of Adventist Health Ukiah Valley, Selzer Realty & Associates RE/MAX Gold, and Ukiah Kiwanis Club, all worked together to meet the needs of Mendocino County children experiencing homelessness.
