This fall, two seats on the Mendocino County Board of Education are up for re-election in Trustee Areas Three (Covelo, Laytonville, Willits) and Four (Caspar, Cleone, Fort Bragg, Leggett, Piercy, Westport). Serving as a trustee on the Board of Education offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on the education system.

The Mendocino County Board of Education consists of five trustees based on the Mendocino County supervisorial districts. Trustees are elected to four-year terms and must live in their respective trustee areas.

The Mendocino County Office of Education (MCOE) held a public Board of Education candidate information meeting on June 25 at the MCOE River Campus in Ukiah. Mendocino County Superintendent of Schools Nicole Glentzer, Assessor, Clerk, Recorder, Registrar of Voters Katrina Bartolomie, California School Boards Governance Consultant Jefferson Crain, and current Board of Education trustee Larry Olson (Area 2) presented information and answered questions about the role of the Board of Education and the process of becoming a candidate for trustee.
