3rd Annual SELPA Universal Design for Learning Conference

UDL Conference Flier

Mendocino County SELPA is hosting the 3rd Annual Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Conference on August 4, 2025. Centered on the theme of Engagement, this year’s conference focuses on fostering motivation, curiosity, and connection while bringing together general and special education staff to support the whole child.

Join Mendocino County SELPA for a dynamic, hands-on conference that places the whole child at the heart of teaching and learning through the lens of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). With a focus on the Engagement strand—stimulating motivation, sustaining effort, and nurturing self-regulation—this event invites general education and special education staff to explore how to create learning environments where every student feels seen, valued, and ready to learn.

Together, we’ll examine practical strategies to reduce barriers, spark curiosity, and foster emotional and academic investment in diverse learners. Whether you're supporting students with IEPs or striving to reach disengaged learners in your classroom, this conference offers tools and inspiration to build innovative practices that empower all students to take ownership of their learning. Let’s reimagine what’s possible when engagement leads the way.

Breakout Sessions include:

  • P-3 UDL and Social Emotional Learning
  • UDL and Trauma-Informed Care in the Classroom
  • AI to Help Teachers Support and Engage Diverse Learners
  • Is it Sensory or is it Behavior - Trying Movement to Self Regulation
  • Regulate to Educate - The Power of Self-Regulation in Classroom Behavior Management
  • Community Resilience Model (CRM)

MCOE’s Learning and Enrichment team will lead three interactive sessions focused on practical, equity-centered strategies to increase access and engagement for all learners:

  • Goals, Goals, Goals: Engaging Students with the Why of Learning
  • AI to Help Teachers Support and Engage Diverse Learners: Using LUDIA to Reduce Barriers to Learning and Enhance Student Engagement
  • Journey of English Learner Students with Disabilities: From Identification to Reclassification
