Mendocino County Board of Education Welcomes New Trustee

The Mendocino County Board of Education welcomes David Strock, who was appointed in September to represent Trustee Area Three (Covelo, Laytonville, Willits) through 2026, following the resignation of Trustee Michelle Hutchins.

Experience and Perspective

Strock brings a blend of public service, education, and community arts experience to the board. A Planner with Mendocino County’s Planning and Building Services Department, he previously worked in Social Services and as a substitute teacher in several California counties.

“I truly believe teaching is the most important job there is,” Strock said. “Having worked alongside teachers and administrators, I understand the dedication and creativity it takes to meet students’ needs, often with limited resources.”

Commitment to Education and Community

A graduate of Willits public schools, Strock’s commitment to education is both personal and professional. He shared that the birth of his son in 2024 deepened his sense of responsibility to contribute to the community’s future. He is glad to be part of a community that values education and is particularly inspired by the growing collaboration between schools, local businesses, and community organizations. “There’s real potential to create programs that prepare students for success without having to leave Mendocino County,” he said.

Mendocino County Superintendent of Schools Nicole Glentzer said, “David’s background in education, public service, and the arts brings a valuable perspective to the Board. His commitment to our rural communities and to creating opportunities for all students aligns with the Mendocino County Office of Education’s mission to ensure every student thrives.”
