
School leaders are invited to deepen their understanding of Section 504 requirements through an upcoming training hosted by the Mendocino County Office of Education.
Section 504 Compliance and Excellence, a three-hour interactive workshop, will provide administrators with the legal clarity and procedural knowledge needed to develop and implement strong Section 504 plans that support students while maintaining compliance with federal law.
The training will be led by Debra I. Sanders, Associate General Counsel II with School & College Legal Services of California, and is designed for Section 504 Coordinators, school site administrators, and supervising district office administrators.

- Origins of Section 504 and key distinctions from IDEA
- Conducting compliant Section 504 eligibility determinations
- Developing individualized and effective Section 504 plans
- Ensuring consistent implementation across school environments
- Using data to document plan effectiveness and demonstrate compliance
- Maintaining required procedures, timelines, and documentation
