New Teacher Residency Opportunity

New Teacher Residency Opportunity

Mendocino County Office of Education has secured a residency grant to support future teachers in our local schools.

This program is designed for individuals who are ready to step into the classroom while earning their teaching credential. Through a partnership with Teachers College of San Joaquin, selected residents will spend a full school year working alongside a mentor teacher while completing their coursework in the evenings.

Participants will be placed in classrooms in Anderson Valley, Round Valley, Fort Bragg, Laytonville, and Willits, with the goal of preparing educators to serve in the communities where they live and work.

The residency covers the cost of the credential program and provides a paid stipend during the year. Coursework is offered in a cohort model, with classes held two evenings per week, either online or in person. Participants may also have the opportunity to substitute teach up to two days per week while completing the program.

This pathway leads to a Special Education credential or a General Education teaching credential, depending on the candidate’s goals.

Applicants must already hold a bachelor’s degree and be ready to begin the credentialing process. Candidates will complete an application through Teachers College of San Joaquin and will be supported locally throughout the process.
