The Mendocino County Office of Education offers local healthcare training programs designed to help students build skills and prepare for new career opportunities. Upcoming programs include Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant, and Dental Assistant training in Ukiah. Each program combines hands-on learning with instruction that prepares students for work in healthcare settings.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
MCOE’s Certified Nursing Assistant program provides hands-on training in essential patient care skills. Students learn to monitor vital signs, assist with personal care, and help maintain safe, supportive environments for patients. The program includes classroom instruction and clinical experience in local healthcare settings. Graduates are prepared to sit for the state CNA exam and begin careers in direct patient care. Job placement assistance is available.

Phlebotomy
MCOE’s 100-hour phlebotomy program trains students in professional blood collection techniques for medical testing and blood banking. Students learn venipuncture procedures, equipment handling, blood tube identification, butterfly needle techniques, syringe usage, and order of draw protocols. Graduates are prepared for the national phlebotomy certification exam and careers in hospitals, clinics, and blood banks.

Medical Assistant
MCOE’s 10-month Medical Assistant program prepares students for careers in physician offices, clinics, and other healthcare settings. Students build both clinical and administrative skills, including vital signs, patient rooming, charting, scheduling, medical terminology, body systems, documentation, and HIPAA compliance. Graduates are prepared to work as qualified medical assistants in a variety of healthcare environments.

- Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 4:30 – 8:00 p.m.

Dental Assistant
MCOE’s six-month Dental Assistant program combines hands-on training with classroom instruction to prepare students for careers in dental practices. Students learn chairside assisting and front office skills, including support with examinations, restorations, extractions, charting, sealant application, and more. Students also earn OSHA and bloodborne pathogen safety certifications. Graduates are prepared for employment in dental offices, clinics, and specialty practices.
